WHAT SERVICES DO YOU OFFER?
Our services include: full color transformations, color touchups, highlights, lowlights, Elumen and Kerasilk smoothing treatments, perms, straightenings, and lastly cuts and trims.
WHAT DOES A CONSULTATION INCLUDE?
Our 15-30 minute complimentary consultations are an honest conversation about your current haircare, your vision and the demands of your lifestyle. We will explain the process with you and create a personalized plan together. Our goal is to understand your specific needs and to ensure your hair compliments your personality and lifestyle. We will often send new clients with homecare products, so they can prep their hair before their appointment.
DO YOU TAKE WALK-INS?
No, we don’t take walk-ins. We value our client’s time and want to ensure that we give them our full attention once they enter the salon. We suggest booking ahead for your visit either by email or text. If you’re a new client, please book a complimentary consultation using the form on our Contact page.
WHAT PRODUCTS DO YOU USE?
We are a Goldwell Salon and use their Elumen line for many color treatments. We also use TIGI, Malibu, Pulp Riot and IGK products regularly. We are committed to being at the forefront of haircare, so we provide clients with K18 and Olaplex products for homecare.
DO YOU PROVIDE SERVICES FOR WEDDINGS OR SPECIAL EVENTS?
No, we don’t offer hair or beauty services for wedding parties or special events. As a boutique salon, we truly specialize in bespoke color and hair for our clients. Our extra time is spent continuously learning about our craft, so we can always provide exceptional service and expertise.
HOW MUCH DO YOUR SERVICES COST?
Services are priced by the hour (hourly rate varies according to stylist) with the additional cost of any product used in your hair. Angela charges between $105-$135/hour, and David charges $90/hour. Our pricing is always customized, as every client’s hair and specific needs will vary.
WHAT DOES YOUR PROCESS LOOK LIKE?
We start by getting you settled in your chair with your favorite beverage. Then you can simply relax, as we take care of everything. Our process varies depending on what we are trying to achieve for each individual. Sometimes we need to remove existing tones from your hair before preparing it for color or we perform maintenance by touching up existing colors. We blend custom color formulas just for you, which are meticulously recorded in our system.
HOW LONG CAN THE PROCESS TAKE?
Full color transformations can take up to a full day, although most treatments don’t take that long! It’s difficult for us to provide the length of time beforehand, although some factors that we take into consideration are: your hair length and type, previous treatments you’ve received, the current condition of your hair, and the overall vision we are trying to achieve. Quality takes time, and we don’t take shortcuts with your hair.
WHAT ABOUT OUT OF TOWN CLIENTS?

DOES STAERK SALON ENTER INTO COMPETITIONS?
Yes. Owner and master colorist Angela Andersen won “BC Colorist of the Year” in 2019 (finalist in 2018), and Staerk Hair won “2018 Vancouver Island Salon of the Year” (finalist in 2019). Angela’s goal is to win Master Colorist of Canada, pushing Staerk to be recognized as one of Canada’s most creative salons.
DO YOU PROVIDE SERVICES FOR MEN?
Yes we do. All genders are welcome and our pricing is gender neutral.
In consideration of our other clients and our stylists, we require at least 48 hours notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Late cancellations or no-shows will be charged the full service price. We do not charge this fee for those canceling due to illness.
Our waiting area is located inside the lobby of the Best Western Plus Carlton Plaza Hotel. Please arrive without any company, and send your stylist a text message when you’re ready.
For all new clients, we require a consultation with one of our stylists prior to booking and a non-refundable deposit to secure your appointment.
